Al Qaeda has made a sweeping new threat against the U.S., France, and much of Europe. The threat came via the radical Islamist Ansar al Mujahideen Network website in a post titled “Map of Al Qaeda and its future strikes”
According to translation from the Washington Times, the threat warns that the “coming strikes” would target the “heart of the land of non-belief” as well as countries aiding France in its crackdown on rebels in Mali. They claim the attacks will be carried out as “group and lone-wolf operations, in addition to the use of booby-trapped vehicles.”
The post literally reads in part, “The answer for it, in short: The coming strikes by al Qaeda, with God’s (Allah’s) Might, will be in the heart of the land of nonbelief, America, and in France, Denmark, other countries in Europe, in the countries that helped and are helping France, and in other places that shall be named by al Qaeda at other times,” and continues by saying that The attacks will be “strong, serious, alarming, earth-shattering, shocking and terrifying.”
It goes on to say, “All operations will be recorded and published in due time. Let France be prepared, and let the helpers of France be prepared, for it is going to be a long war of attrition.”
The Ansar al-Mujahideen network has published reliably accurate propaganda messages from Al Qaeda and its affiliates in the past.
U.S. officials are reportedly taking the threat seriously.
The threat emerged as French troops announced yesterday that they had overtaken a rebel-held airport in Kidal, northern Mali. Kidal was said to be the last urban stronghold held by the Islamist insurgents who have been in control of most of northern Mali for the last ten months.
France has deployed around 4,500 troops in a three-week ground and air offensive, being supported by Britain and other European forces aimed at heading off the risk of Mali being used as a staging point for jihadist attacks in the European region.

The jets are being provided by the U.S. at a taxpayer cost of 213 million dollars as part of a deal made with Egypt by the Obama administration back in 2010.
Yesterday (Wednesday) Senator Rand Paul R-KY offered an amendment which would have blocked the weapons from going to Egypt, but his amendment was soundly defeated by a vote of 79 to 19. Paul then reintroduced the measure as a separate piece of legislation.
Paul argued on the Senate floor that, “I think it is a blunder of the first proportion to send sophisticated weapons to a country that allowed a mob to attack our embassy and to burn our flag. I find it objectionable to send weapons, F-16s and tanks to a country that allowed a mob chanting ‘death to America’ to threaten our American diplomats.”
What makes all this even more alarming is that as of March 15, 2013 US air defense system – “the TARS Air Defense Mission” which patrols the Southern border with Mexico will be fully shut down due to sweeping military “budget cuts” made by the Obama administration with the help of Congress.
There’s a saying that you should “never bite the hand that feeds you.” But as it relates to the U.S. sending hundreds of millions of dollars in weapons to our sworn enemies, all while cutting our own military to the bone; perhaps the phrase should read “never feed the hand that bites you”….
